A. Pickett Construction, Inc. has scheduled a Pop-Up Employer Information Table for Monday, Oct. 21, in the Carl Building Technologies Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The company is recruiting carpenter helpers, carpenters, assistant HVAC technicians, assistant business administrators, assistant project managers and assistant estimators. Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week held its fourth and final summer session at Pennsylvania College of Technology July 28 to Aug. 2. More than 300 young high school juniors and seniors attended the engaging event, the signature program of the Foundation for Free Enterprise Education. The youth leadership gathering provides a hands-on, practical way for students to immerse themselves in the world of business and gain a sense of their entrepreneurial talents.
A Pennsylvania College of Technology business faculty member was recognized with a pair of new credentials at a recent Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs conference. Chip D. Baumgardner, associate professor of business administration/management, was presented certificates acknowledging his status as an ACBSP certified mentor and as an ACBSP certified consultant.
Montoursville Area High School student Mason Morrow won first place – and the grand prize of a $10,000 scholarship to Pennsylvania College of Technology – in the 2023-24 Dream-Learn-Pitch competition. Dream-Learn-Pitch, administered by nonprofit Brighter Financial Futures/Pennsylvania Council on Financial Literacy, provides high school and middle school students with an opportunity to innovate and gain exposure to the world of entrepreneurship and small business.
Pennsylvania College of Technology students helped 99 local taxpayers file their 2023 income tax returns. Their work resulted in $86,222 in federal income tax refunds for the clients, and state refunds of $4,397.
The Penn College Business Club – with support from the Event Management & Coordination class – hosted Coffee & Conversation, an event that joined students, primarily in business and hospitality majors, with 40 employers offering potential summer internships or long-term employment. The affair featured a campus tour, Q&A session, information tables, a mixer and an etiquette dinner.
The first Wildcat Forum, devised and led by business administration students in an Event Management & Coordination class, brought messages of inspiration to those in attendance at the Klump Academic Center. Five brief talks, provided by alumni and employees, explored “What is Success?” from each speaker’s unique perspective and experience.
On March 19, a group of Pennsylvania College of Technology students will host the first Wildcat Forum, a series of six-to-eight-minute talks sharing the theme “What is Success?” The event is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium and is open to the community. Three Penn College alumni and two employees are slated to speak.
Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member Chip D. Baumgardner recently attended an Innovation Engineering Summit at Eureka! Ranch, an innovation think tank and training company. Baumgardner, an associate professor of business administration/management, was among 30 guests invited to the summit.
